Just One
*It just takes remembering one conversation like this to feel not so bad about losing our lil' angels to Fall semesters. PLEASE tell me you have one of these to hang on to!! :) Comment below or send me an email!
I wanted to make sure my Spawn knew how much I would appreciate one of these tubs in my future. (The person who invented these is a genius and deserves a statue and a warm sudsy soak in his/her honor.)
“Hey, <Spawn>, come look at this commercial.”
“Yeah. And?”
“I want one of those in my wing when I move in with you in my old age.”
“You know where they have those? In nursing homes.”
“Not in the nursing homes I’ll be able to afford.”
“Well, you have a point. They do require indoor plumbing.”
“Thanks. I took care of your first eighteen years. You should take care of my last eighteen.”
“Eighteen? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You need to make sure you go quickly.”
“When do you leave for school?”
“Not soon enough, not soon enough.”

Funny! Tell you one of my stories...
My son (at 21) required our care for almost a year after a broken leg that did not heal, First he was in a full body cast and that was rough for us all. Then It was shortened and finally only a leg cast.
He was so appreciative and swore we would never want for care because he was going to tend to us when the time came! Many years later, at forty, I jokingly asked him if the offer was still good. By then he had a job that he loved and that kept him on the road, and more importantly, had watched us age.
He grinned rather sheepishly and replied that he was having second thought about that. We both thought it rather amusing, especially since I never expected his care.
LOL!! It was a sweet offer for a while, wasn't it? And, yours was probably like mine - you know that they'd come through for us if the chips were truly down. Kids!! I just love 'em.
