My Original Impulse
Our little community of Post-Single Mothers is growing by leaps and bounds. Our Facebook page has over 500(!) fans now and we're working on a discussion area for this site to create a place where we can connect as a group online. We have one chapter here in Indianapolis and as soon as the service mark application is signed, sealed and delivered, we'll get started on a second and a possible third.
I am so happy about this chance to talk to other women going through this very real stage of a single mother's life, I can barely stand it. I went through that first year my son "left me" (he went to college an hour away, but I still refer to it as the day he left me) so confused about what I was feeling. I had no idea I was grieving the loss of him. And now, two years later, I have met some be-YOU-ti-ful women through the process of putting a name on this sad face of PSM.
If you're interested in reading about how the idea for this project went to plan to fruition, I hope you'll visit Cynthia Morris' site, Original Impulse, and read the Case Study she just posted about the life-changing experience I had through her support and coaching.
The link is here: I'm Karen Rutherford at the top and click on "her remarkable story". Remarkable. Well, you be the judge. LOL!!
In a lot of ways, I blame Cynthia for this here Website. :) She was just what I needed. Check out her Website for information about her books, workshops, individual coaching, creative clubs. She is a treasure to talk to. You will be dazzled. And, if you're like this PSMer, that's a mouthful!!
Cynthia asked me a question once that I try to remember to ask myself each and every morning. "Karen? What do you want to do today?" I am sole provider for a son in college and I have to pay cash for his school. So, I know that life is not always about want, but need. But, that question!! It sparked a whole new way of thinking for me. Even if I can't do what I want all day every day, the thought of it. Ah, just the thought of it!!
Thank you, you wonderful, wonderful people for reading and liking and connecting. I can't wait to get to know you better! And, if you read the Study, I hope you'll like knowing me a little better, too.
